Silas, son of James and Eliza Whitworth, was born April 9, 1856 near Fairview church and died at his home in that neighborhood September 30, 1930.

He was united in marriage to Martha McKay, June 4, 1877 and to this union, two sons were born; one son Robert, preceding him in death about four years ago.

He is survived by his wife; one son, Michael; twelve grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Alve; many nephews, nieces and other relatives and a host of friends.

In early manhood, he united with the Bethlehem Baptist Church, remaining a faithful member until his death. Mr. Whitworth, better known as "Uncle Siley" was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a good and loyal neighbor. He was a great sufferer but was cheerful and patient through all his suffering. He was a lover of children and was greatly loved by them.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Ola Thurmond, at Oak Grove, Wednesday afternoon and the remains were laid to rest there.

Because of his cheerfulness, Mr. Whitworth had endeared himself to the whole community, as well as his family and he will be sadly missed in his family circle and community.
