Death of Thomas M. Poor
Thomas M. Poor, a prominent citizen of Novelty, died Wednesday, May 24, 1899, after a short illness. The deceased was 71 years of age and was a well known and respected citizen. He moved to Knox county in 1853 and lived on his farm about one mile west of Novelty until about one year ago when he moved to town. He had been in declining health for several years, but his condition only became serious about a week before his death. His wife, six sons and two daughters survive him. The remains were laid to rest in the Novelty cemetery, Thursday, the funeral services being conducted by the Masonic Lodge.
