Born: Milam County, TX

Wife: Ruby Ella (Campbell) Landis (D. 1925)

Parents: Edward Hamilton Landis & Lucy Lothlem Landis

When his wife died shortly after giving birth to twins, he left NM about 1930 with his aged father and his twins . He wound up in Hamilton TX and got a job cleaning the town square. His father cared for the children, living in the truck, while Luther worked. The good people of Hamilton took pity on him and he eventually was able to move into a small house. He never married again. His brother Edwin Landis and wife Ethel came from OK to Hamilton TX and Ethel was the only "mother" that Billy and Ruby needed. Ethel definitely had her hands full trying to corral Billy and Ruby.
Grandad Landis was a guiding light in our family. He was a wonderful man and always reached out to help others. This was a man with no enemies on this earth.
Luther has another tombstone at Gentrys Mill Cemetery outside Hamilton. He had it placed there years ago
near his father. He changed his mind and wanted to be buried with his children at Oakwood.
