Frank was born in Gary, Indiana to George and Gladys Bogan. He lived in Valparaiso Indiana for his first 25 years. He graduated from Valparaiso High School after being the Drum Major for the high school band. He married Florence Shinabargar in 1942. Shortly after he went into the Army and fought and was injured in WWII receiving the Purple Heart. He and Florence moved to South Bend in the early 1950's. They had four children: Frank Dennis, Deborah Jean, Dianne Marie and Kathleen Nannette. Frank worked for A/M International as a Salesman. His passion was being a member of the River Park Lions Club. He received many awards and was a Trustee.
Frank had a big family and loved them all. He is missed.

Frank Bogan married Florence Shinabargar on July 17, 1942 in Valparaiso, IN. He was a Corporal in the United States Army Infantry for three years, the 96th in the South Pacific.

SOUTH BEND -- Frank O. Bogan, 65, of South Bend, formerly of Valparaiso, died Sunday, March 25, 1990, at home.

He was born April 29, 1924, in Gary, a son of George and Gladys (Bristow) Bogan.

He moved to South Bend in 1950, coming from Valparaiso.

Mr. Bogan was a salesman for 30 years for AM International in the multigraphics division.

He was a World War II veteran and a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, former state chairman and honorary chairman for Speech and Hearing State of Indiana.

Mr. Bogan originated the TTY, which allows deaf people to use the telephone, for St. Joseph County. He was a past president of the River Park Lions Club and was the first Indiana Lion to be awarded the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award.

On July 17, 1942, in Valparaiso, he married Florence V. Shinabargar, who survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Deborah Moore and Dianne DeMaegd, both of South Bend, and Kathleen Hoffman of Mishawaka; one son, Frank Dennis Bogan of Indianapolis; two sisters, Sally Affeld and Peggy Betz, both of Valparaiso; two brothers, Charles of Missouri, and James (Bob) Bogan of Nevada; 17 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

Services 2 p.m. EST Wednesday at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, South Bend; Rev. Edmund Peters officiating; burial in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola; visitation 4-8 p.m.
