Obituary, --Myron Cushing--

Myron Edgar Cushing, son of Mr. and Mrs. Montgomery H. Cushing, was born at Assumption, Ill., Sept. 28, 1869. When family moved to a farm four miles north of Edgar, where he grew to manhood.

He was unite in marriage to Louise Beatrice Hazlett Oct 21, 1890. To this union were born four children, Loren of Fairfield, Blanche Mileger, deceased; Clare of Nebraska City; and Doris Hart of Burchard.

Mr. Cushing engaged in farming near Edgar until 1913, at which time they moved to town. They lived in Edgar until Mrs. Cushing passed away in March, 1951. Since then Mr. Cushing had made his home with his daughter, Doris, at Burchard, and with his son, Clare, at Nebraska City.

He united with the Methodist Church in 1911 and transferred his membership to the Methodist Church in Edgar soon after moving to town. He was an active member for many years, serving both as chorister of the Sunday School and as a member of the choir.

Mr. Cushing passed away at St. Mary's Hospital in Nebraska City, Oct. 13, 1957, after an illness of three months. He lived to be 88 years, 15 days of age. Besides the three children, he leaves 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Services under the direction of the McGhie Funeral Home were held in the Edgar Methodist Church at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, with Rev John J. Lauer officiating. Mrs. Merna Kinnison and Mrs. Lovena Beck, with Mrs. Eileen Mikkelsen at the organ sang "Jesus Keep Me Near the Cross," and Abide With Me." Pallbearers were Mervin Woods, Melvin Hoyt, Carl Trobough, Harmie Trobough, Russell Broderick and Herman Hart.
Burial was in the Edgar Cemetery.
