Adam Stephan was born on May 3, 1833 in Hesse-Darmstadt. His father Conrad Stephan b1808 was 24 and his mother Margaret was 27. He apparently immigrated with his family in 1851- arriving from Württemberg, Germany on Sep 17th,1851 into New York. He married Anna Marie Frank on December 26, 1859, in Shelby, Ohio and we find him on the 1860 Ohio Census. They had eight children in the 16 years between 1861 and 1877. His 2nd wife was Eliza Barnhisel Frank (pictured), widowed spouse of his 1st wife's brother William. Apparently they found solace in each 0ther after losing their previous mates. He passed away on May 10, 1908 in Crestline, Crawford Co., Ohio having lived a long life of 75 years.
