Alfred Meier was born Dec. 9, 1868, at White Creek, Ind. On Dec. 28 he was baptized and he was later confirmed.
He came to Kansas in 1891 making his home on a farm in Lincoln county. He joined himself to St. John's Lutheran church, where he was a member for many years, however, after St. Paul's congregation had been organized he transferred his membership to this church.
In the year 1894 he entered the estate of holy matrimony with Louise Detmer. Two daughters and one son were born to this union, Lizzie, Lydia and Theodore. His wife preceded him into eternity on May 12, 1938.
After several years of sickness death came to him as a peaceful Deliverer on July 28, 1942.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Louise. He is survived by his children, Mrs. Martin Bolte (Lena Lydia), Mrs. Carl Bolte (Lizzie) and Theodore Meier, all of Lincoln; also five grandchildren; his brothers, Henry, Wilhelm, John, George and Ephrahim {sic}; his sisters, Mrs. William Tatkenhorst, Emma Michaels, Mrs. Mary Bolte and Mrs. William Detmer, and many other relatives and friends.
