Johann Friedrick Meyer was the son of Harmon Heinrich and Maria Elisabeth Lambring Meyer. His parents immigrated to the United States from Germany in 1836. Johann had one brother, Louis Heinrich and two sisters, Mary (Marie) and Louise (Elise). Johann had his named changed to John Meier after he was charged with a debt of another John Meyer who was no relation. On April 21, 1861, he married Hannah Wilhemine Aufdemberge at St. John's Lutheran Church, White Creek, Indiana.
They were blessed with fourteen children: Ten sons: George, John, Henry, Ephriam, Benjamin, William and Alfred, three died in infancy and four daughters: Mary, Wilhemine Johnna Clara, Eliza and Emma. They moved to Lincoln County Kansas in 1891. In 1911, John and other Lutherans in the area organized St. Paul's Lutheran Church near Westfall, KS. John passed away at the age of 92 years.
