Abraham Sprunger was born on the Huttenberg (La Heutte near Pery), Canton Bern, Switzerland. He was married January 16, 1823, to Anna Moser daughter of Ulrich Moser from Ruderswil. She was born about 1798. He did farming as a renter at Munsterberg. They had five children. After the death of Anna, his first wife, on June 23, 1843, he was married the second time to Magdalena Rufenacht (born about 1811) on January 29, 1848. They had one child. On January 19, 1850, his second wife also died. On March 7, 1852, he with all his children and 20 other families took their departure from the old homestead and moved to America. They arrived in New York on April 28 and traveled onto Sonnenberg, Wayne County, Ohio, arriving there on May 7. Shortly after their arrival, he with all his family moved to Adams County, Indiana, where he died at the age of 92.
