Edwin Elbert Johnson,69, Durant, died Wednesday at Brandon Regional Hospital.

A native and lifelong resident of East Hillsborough County he was a great-grandson of Benjamin Johnston, who settled in the Durant area in 1853. He was a member of Evangel Temple in Riverview.

He is survived by his wife, Maudell Edge; daughters, Vivian Hendrix, Bloomingdale, Shirley Vick, Pawnee, Ill., Barbara Jean Copeland, Thonotosassa; sons, Carl, L.B., Jimmie and Dale, Brandon, Chester of Riverview, Ervin and Donald, of Durant, and Wilbur, Bald Knob, Ark.; sisters, Gladys Shiver, Valrico, Willow Bryant, Durant, Gertrude White, Tampa; brothers, Fred, Gasport, N.Y. and Woodrow, Durant; 37 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers, grandsons, Larry, Gregory, Ricky, and Donnie Johnson and Ronald & Bruce Gilley.
