The music was furnished by a combined choir of the Bethel-Crossroads Assemblies of God Churches and the Faith Temple. The active pallbearers were V.E. Hargraves, Junior Hargraves, Monroe Hodge, Wayne Walker, H.L. Randolph and junior Walker. The honorary pallbearers were Byron Sharp, W.O. Davidson Jr., David Ellsworth, Raymond Cooper, Edgar Heck, Woodrow Woolverton, Freland Woolverton, and Ralph Berry.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Carmel Ashley and eight children as follows: Mrs. Edith Richardson, Gideon; Mrs. Katherine Ellsworth, Portageville; Miss Helen Ashley, St. Louis; Misses Barbara and Carolyne Ashley of the home; Guy Ashley of St. Louis, and Gayle and Ronnie, of the home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Ashley of Morrilton, Ark; four sisters, Mrs. Willie Sharp, Mrs. Henry Leach, and Mrs. Beatrice Young of Morrilton, Ark., and Mrs. Henry Shamblin of Portageville; two brothers, Earl and Pete Ashley of Morrilton, Ark.; seven grandchildren.
Mr. Ashley had lived in and around Gideon for many years, and had made many friends as was evidenced by the large number of people attending the services. It was the largest funeral held in Gideon in a long time.
