Sweetwater - Lee Ballew, 76, died at 9:45 p.m. Thursday in Simmons Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient one week.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. W. G. Perdue, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Abilene under direction of Cate-Spencer Funeral HOme.

Mr. Ballew had lived in Sweetwater since 1939. He was owner and operator of the Sweetwater Broom Factory until his retirement. He was active in Boy Scout work and was holder of the Silver Beaver Award. He was a member of First Baptist Church and was an ordained deacon of the Southside Baptist Church in Abilene.

He was born Sept. 9, 1894, in McKinney. He was a member of the Woodmen of the World Lodge, Rotary Club and the Downtown Bible Class. He was one of the original stockholders of the First National Bank of Sweetwater.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Audrey of Sweetwater and Jerry of Albuquerque, N.M.; one daughter, Pauline Ballew of Sweetwater; one brother, Lonnie, of Portland, Ore.; two sisters, Mrs. J.W. Holliday and Mrs. Ella Anderson, both of Abilene; and four grandchildren.
