Mrs. Frances Zink, mother of Assemblyman Col. Zink and a resident of Beaver Dam for 74 years, passed away in death at the home of Col. Zink. Mrs. Zink was 85 years of age and for the past twelve years had made her home with her son. In spite of her advanced age she was able to be about up to within two weeks of the end.
Born in Germany in 1842, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hammer, she came with her parents to this city in 1853 at the age of eleven years. After a year's residence on a farm in this vicinity, the family removed to the city to reside and with the exception of a short time spent with her children in Milwaukee, Mrs. Zink had resided here continuously since. She was married to Phillip Zink of this city in 1858. Mr. Zink at the time was a cooper employed at the Bank's Cooper Shop and later he established his own shop on Madison street which he conducted for many years. He died in 1900.
Of the ten children born to the union but three remain. They are Col. Zink of this city, Frances M. Zink Traynor, wife of Barney Traynor of Milwaukeeand Coonie, wife of Edward Martin, also of Milwaukee.
The funeral services were held at St. Peter's church with interment in St. Mary's cemetery.
