Eugene Jefferson Lemons, 83, of Martinsville, died Monday, June 21, 2010, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
He was born April 21, 1927, in Martinsville to Charles Almond Lemons and Mary Louise Turner Lemons. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Tommy Lemons, Marvin Lemons and Charles Lemons.
He served in the Navy during World War II and retired from DuPont as a spinning operator. He was a member of the Henry County Bass Masters.
Surviving are his wife, Una Barbour Lemons of the home; three sons, Michael Taylor Lemons, Jerry Lee Lemons and Mark Eugene Lemons, all of Martinsville; a sister, Mae Harris of Ridgeway; seven brothers, Robert D. Lemons, Cecil Lemons, Danny Lemons and Jack Lemons, all of Martinsville, Richard Lemons of Puerto Rico, Johnny Lemons of Collinsville, and Douglas Lemons of Snow Flake, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Hairfield family cemetery in the Figsboro community with Pastor Bill Crary officiating.
The family will receive friends at the home of a son, Mark Lemons, at 80 Morrison Road, Martinsville.
