Olton Special Services for J. M "Murrie" Machen, 57, are set for 2:30 p.m. day in the First Baptist Church of Olton with the Rev. John E. Lewis, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Olton Cemetery with Parsons Funeral home in charge.
Machen died about 11 am Friday in the Methodist Hospital following a brief illness. The Olton resident was a native of Seymour, and had lived here 27 years.
Machen was a farmer. He married the former Marie Chandler in 1935 at Seymour.
Machen was a member of the Valleyview Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, a son Deryl of Olton, a daughter Mrs. Gayle Noll of Odessa, four brothers Ernest, Earl, and Glenn all of Seymour and Sid of Brownfield. and three sisters, Mrs. Edna Worsham Allan of Brownfield, Mrs. Edith Kirk of Seagraves and Mrs. Frances Portwood of 8817 48th St.. Lubbock; and four grandchildren.
