Daughter ~ Carol Jean Arwood Schunke
DAYTON -- Carl Arwood, 79, of Dayton died Thursday, Oct. 19 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Ottawa Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park with military services. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mr. Arwood was born Oct. 1, 1927, in Pontiac to Henry and Sina (Garland) Arwood. He married Emma Jean Clark in April of 1948 in Streator.
He retired from L.O.F. Glass Co. after 32 years and had worked at the Seneca Shipyards during WWII. He served with the Army Corp. of Engineers and was stationed in Alaska coming home in the spring of 1947.
He was a volunteer for the Salvation Army in Ottawa and lifetime member of the NRA.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Shirley (Jerry) Comer of Ottawa; two sons, Hank (Colleen) of Morris and Sam (Cindy) Arwood of Trinity, Fla.; 16 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Betty (Bill) Entwistle and Hazel (Ralph) Syverson, both of Ottawa, and Dorothy Husted of Spruce Pine N.C.; and a brother, John (Lorraine).
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol J. Schunke.
Pallbearers will be grandchildren, Leo Jr. and Luke Schunke, Mike and Ashley Arwood, and Angela Bratcher and Jerry Comer Jr.
