Obituary.

Stephen Hickmond Drake, son of William and Eliza Reid Drake, was born near Taylorsville, Spencer county, Ky., April 10, 1837; and died at Piedmont, Kansas, August 26, 1917, aged 80 years, 4 months and 16 days.

He was married to Rebecca E. Brown near Gosport, Ind., January 28, 1858. She passed away on March 2, 1917. To this union were born eight children, six sons and two daughters, all of whom survive their father except William M., who died April 8, 1912, at Enid, Okla. Those living are F.E. Drake, of Piedmont, Mrs. G.H. Jones, of West Plains, Mo., Fred L., of Kinswick Mo., Leslie E., of Wichita, Chas. F., of Severy, and Rosa and James of Piedmont. Besides these, numerous relatives and friends mourn the loss of the departed.

Funeral services were held at the F.E. Drake home just north of Piedmont, on August 29, at 10:30 a.m., conducted by Rev. H.C. Taylor. Interment was made in Piedmont cemetery.
