William Merrion Drake was born December 28, 1859, at Gasport, Owen county, Indiana. He was married to Mira O'Brien on January 19, 1885. Four children were born to this union, one dying in infancy and a son, Leslie, dying at the age of eighteen years. Two children, Mrs. C. S. Anderson, and Delmer Drake, with the wife, mother, father, five brothers and two sisters, survive the deceased.
Mr. and Mrs. Drake have resided on their farm a few miles west of Hennessey for twenty-one years, and during that time have formed many warm friendships in this part of the county. Mr. Drake was a devoted and considerate husband and father, and a good neighbor and friend. No man stood higher or was more esteemed in his community than he, and many friends are sorrowing with the family at his early demise.
