*Michael J. Cuttle Dies at Jacksonville
Michael J. Cuttle of Decatur died at 3 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the Illinois hospital in Jacksonville, where he had been for several weeks. His age was seventy-two years, four months and six days. He had been in failing health for the past year, and was in St. Mary's hospital for some time before going to Jacksonvillee.
Mr. Cuttle was widely known as a concrete contractor and as a leader in the Democratic party. He had lived in Decatur for almost fifty years and had many friends. Louis Moran went to Jacksonville and brought the body to Decatur and it will be taken to the residence, 609 North Stone street, this evening.

Mr. Cuttle was born in England June 1, 1844. His father and the mother of Field Marshal Sir John French, commander in chief of the English army, were brother and sister, so that Mr. Cuttle and Sir John French were cousins. Mr. Cuttle was fond of relating incidents of his childhood days in England, where the family resided on the large estate at French park. He remembered many incidents of the Crimean war. He was but ten years old at the time of the war between England and Russia, and one of the things that impressed him most was seeing English soldiers returning from Russia, some of them with feet or hands frozen off.

Mr. Cuttle is Survived by his wife and three children, Miss Mollie Cuttle, Mrs. Frederick Wisenberger and Joseph Cuttle, all of Decatur. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic church. He came to America at the close of the civil war. Before coming to this country he served a year and a half in the English army. On his arrival to America he went to Fall River, Mass., but after staying there a short time he came to Decatur and almost ever since then he has resided at 609 North Stone street.
The funeral will be held at 9 o'clock Friday morning at St. Patrick's Catholic church. The services will be conducted by Rev. Father J. Murphy. The interment will be in Calvary.
