Isom L. Denton,77,a resident of Huntington County the last 50 years, died at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at his home, 1406 Riverside Drive. He had been in failing health four and one-half years and seriously ill two months.
Mr. Denton was born April 19,1883,in Jefferson Township to James and Margaret Welker Denton. He married Sylvia Young September 20,1920,at Adrian, Mich.
Mr.Denton was formerly employed at the Ditzler-Schoch Lumber Company in this city and last employed at the Schacht Rubber Manufacturing Company. He was a member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society of the church.
Surviving are the widow, two children of a former marriage, Mrs. Floyd Walton, Huntington route four, and Walter C. Denton, Fort Wayne; a daughter by the second marriage, Mrs. George Jefferson, Belleview, Wash.; three step-children, Archie Young, this city; Mrs. George Musser, Silver Lake, and Mrs. Jerry Martin, Stuart, Fla.; eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; nine step grandchildren, and eight step-great-grandchildren. A son, Virgil Denton, and a brother, Emerson Denton, are dead.
Friends may call after 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Robbins Funeral Home where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday with the Rev. J. H. Roesler officiating. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Burial will be in the Lancaster Cemetery.
