Born Catherine Eugenia Taylor, she usually went by Jeane Taylor in the community. She signed documents Jeane T. Maxfield. She was the daughter of John Holmes Taylor(1839-1918) and Grace Minerva (Vernon) Taylor(1841-1922). She was born on the family homestead farm southwest of Robinson and south of Stoy in Oblong Township on the Hardinville Road. On September 26 1921 she married Ollie Otis Maxfield(1876-1936) who was a Methodist circuit minister; it was not his first marriage even though it was her first. They raised one child, Orlando, born in 1925. They made their home on the Taylor farm southwest of Robinson and made the old Taylor residence a showplace with their collection of antiques, many of them heirlooms. For many years Jeane managed a large farm of about 180 acres by herself.
