Services for Mrs. Beverly Welch Allen will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Graveside with Rev. Lane Townsend officiating. Interment will be held at Toomsuba Cemetery. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Allen, age 68, passed away on Thursday, May 6, 2010 at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian. She was a retired social worker and a master gardener. She had graduated from Sumter County High School in 1960 and then earned a BA Degree from Sophia Newcomb-Tulane University, earned an MS Degree from the University of Tennessee in Political Science, and also earned a MSW Degree from the University of Alabama. She was a member of Toomsuba Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her Son, Lawson Allen; Daughter, Lyle Allen Johnson; Three Brothers, Robert Charles Welch, Stephen Perry Welch, and Edward Duffey Welch and his wife Carol; she is also survived by her nieces, Shelley George, Audrey Archie, Stacey Burt, and Jennifer Overstreet; by her nephews, Warren Welch, Robb Welch, and Lauren Welch.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Milton Charles and Lottie Duffey Welch; by her husband, Joseph Eli Allen; by her sister, Sandra Welch Neihuss.
