Mrs. John B. Childress, 825 East Street, moved to Graham in 1925. She was a public school teacher in Texas for 12 years at Baird and Burkburnett. She taught her first school at East Bosque in 1919. When she went to pick up her first check at the home of Bosque County Judge J.W. Childress, she met her future husband.

She was a member of the First Methodist Church and former teacher of the Mother's Class, the Wesley Class and member of the Wesleyan Service guild. She has also taught in the primary department.

She is the mother of two daughters - Mrs. Walter Criswell and Miss Frances Childress. Both of her daughters became teachers.
