John Bennett Childress, 81, retired as the American Railway Express Agent of Graham in 1956. He was a member of the Methodist church.

John Bennett Childress served as Sergeant of the 315 Field Signal, 90th Division during World War I.

John Bennett Childress married Miss Nevada Duncan in 1921 at Meridian, Texas. The couple moved to Graham in 1925 from Oklahoma. Mr. Childress was the new agent for the American Express Company.

Survived by his wife; two daughters - Miss Frances Childress and Mrs. Lou Wallace Criswell; two sisters - Mrs. Oliver Covey and Mrs. Susie Goyne.
