Mary America was the daughter of Margaret (nee Dillon) and Daniel Bourne, born in Kentucky. In 1826, she married Jonathan David Jones in Jessamine Co. KY.

She and Jonathan had eight sons, Daniel, Joseph, Thomas, John, William, Andrew B., James and Anderson W. Jones; and two daughters, Margaret Jane "Jennie" and Caroline "Molly" Jones.
