Floyd J. Byrum, 82, of Atkins, died Wednesday, February 10, 2010, at his home.

He was born May 21, 1927, at Moreland to William Washington and Minnie Belle Roberts Byrum. He was retired from the Pope County Road Department as a mechanic where he worked for 22 years and was a member of the Cornerstone Assembly of God, north of Atkins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Ellis, J. M., and Clifton Byrum; and two sisters, Orene and Dora Alice Byrum.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Sue Byrum of Russellville; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Kathryn Byrum of Pottsville, Keith and Tina Byrum of Pottsville, and Eric Byrum of Russellville; a brother, Coleman Byrum of Santa Paula, California; two sisters, Vera Roach and Myrtle Duvall, both of Russellville; and six grandchildren, Allison and Zachary Byrum, Tyler Jones and Nichole Boggs of Pottsville, Evonna Hubbard and Valerie Morrison of Russellville; and six great-grand children.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 13, 2010, at Shinn Chapel with the Rev. J.C. Kinder officiating. Burial was in Shady Grove Cemetery, north of Atkins under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service.

Pallbearers were David Duvall, Lonnie Byrum, Steve Boatright, Junior Byrum, Eric Pixley, Tyler Jones, and Lonnie Kinder.

Honorary pallbearers were past and present employees of the Pope County Road Department.
