Fairfield Recorder - 7 May 1909 issue
In Memory of Mrs. Maggie Orand
On Tuesday evening, April 20, 1909, the mortal remains of Mrs. Maggie Orand were laid to rest in the Day cemetery. She passed away Monday morning.
Her death was a shock to her many friends. A happy home has been broken up, but, dear ones, weep not, for you have the sweet assurance of knowing that this dear one is sweetly resting in the arms of Jesus and that some sweet day you can meet her at the pearly gates of heaven. She leaves, besides a husband, three sons and one daughter, who will sadly miss this dear mother, and it is hoped that the good influence she has thus far entwined around their footsteps will lead them through all life's troubles.
She was a strong believer in the Christian religion, having been a member of the Baptist church, for many years. Owing to her many kind deeds and sympathetic nature; being ever ready to lend a helping hand and bestow a kind, consoling word to all in hours of trouble, will make us miss her more in this world, but these kind deeds and unselfish devotion to the service of God add to our sweet assurance that she has safely landed on that bright shore where parting and sorrow come no more. We have no desire to forget such a faithful friend. She was good and kind toward all with whom she came in contact.
Dear friends, your hearts are made sad by the loss of this dear mother, but it is for a purpose none of us dare divine. The holy joy is yours of knowing that angel eyes now watch for your coming, and that your darling mother will receive you when life's dark day is done. God alone can pour balm upon your poor crushed hearts, for "earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot cure". We will sadly miss this dear one at church. Never a time would she miss unless she was sick and unable to go. One more sweet face has gone from this sinful world never more to appear. Dear ones, she can't come to you but you can go to her. Dear children be true to mother's God and you will meet her in heaven.
ONE WHO DEARLY LOVED HER.

Obituary
Mrs. Maggie Orand died Apr., 19th, 1909, of heart failure. She had been sick about a week, but appeared to be better, when she was unexpectedly stricken and died after drawing only two or three breaths.
She was born in Cannon Co., Tenn., 69 years ago, and was married to W. H. Orand 37 years ago. She was indeed a good woman and a faithful member of Ward Prairie Church. She was always in her place when church met, unless Providence prevented. "Be thou faithful unto death and I will give thee a crown". She has gone to meet her Saviour, who will fulfill his blessed promise.
Weep not, dear husband and children. She can not come back to you, but you can go to her. May God's richest blessings rest upon you all.
Your pastor,
E. J. Brown
