Gladys Willmon died July 26, 2008 at Regent Park Nursing Home in Holyoke.
Gladys Martha (Brase) Willmon was born to Ernest and Lydia (Rodenburg) Brase in Ruskin, Nebraska July 4, 1912, and later lived in Deschler, Nebraska. At the age of 10, her family moved to Amherst, where she attended Lutheran Parochial school and was confirmed in 1925.
On May 10, 1931, she married Garry Willmon. Before working in the home and on the family farm full-time, Gladys worked at the Weyerts store in Amherst and as a cook for the railroad in Bayard, Nebraska. In 1948, she and her family moved to a farm five miles east of Holyoke where she resided until she moved to the Carriage House and later to Prairie Vista Care Center (Regent Park) where she resided at the time of her death.
Surviving Gladys are her daughters Vickie Willmon of Holyoke and Sandra Willmon and her significant other Ted Frady of Grand Junction; son Stan Willmon and his significant other Naomi Newman of Holyoke; seven grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren, eight great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her funeral service was held Tuesday, July 29 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Amherst, with Pastor Gary Rahe and Pastor Al Borcher officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lutheran Hour, 660 Mason Ridge Center Drive, St. Louis, MO 63141.
Interment followed in the Amherst Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to Gerk Funeral Home.
