Kathryn Valley (Bland) Brandenburg, 103, of Casey died 10:15 a.m. Friday (Jan. 10, 2003) in Heartland Manor Nursing Center, Casey.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday in Markwell Funeral Home, Casey, with the Rev. Dan Smith officiating. Visitation will be one hour before services. Burial will be in Washington Street Cemetery, Casey. Memorials: Heartland Manor Nursing Center. Pallbearers are Gilbert and Eric Mullen.

She was born on Dec. 28, 1899, in Greenup, the daughter of Edward Bland and Ida May Cutright Bland. She was a rural school teacher prior to marriage and retired from the city of Casey as city collector after 27 years. She attended Central Baptist Church. She married Thomas J. Brandenburg on May 13, 1922, in Marshall. He preceded her in death on March 28, 1975.

Surviving are her daughters, Mrs. Leo (Mary) Simpson and Mrs. Robert (Melva) Wilcox, both of Casey; brother, Bernard Bland of Greenup; granddaughters, Mrs. William (Jennifer) Blackwood of Herndon, Va.; Mrs. Gilbert (Amy) Mullen of Casey; great-grandchildren, Regan Blackwood, Eric Mullen and Laurie Yammine; great-great-grandchildren, Travis and Brandon Yammine.

She was preceded in death by her husband and four brothers, Bert, Oakley, Carl and Dolph Bland.
