Fannie Barnett, a resident of Dewar, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at the age of 71. She was born on Wednesday, October 19, 1938 to Jonas Kano and Alice (Simmons) in Hannah, Oklahoma. She was a member of the Solid Rock Indian Baptist Church in Glenpool and the Dewar Indian Community Center. Fannie worked for 8 years as an Administrative Assistant for the Creek Nation and she was Senior Ms. Muscogee Nation from 2004 to 2005. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Nahka Carpitcher; daughters, Hazel and Angie Robinson; brothers, Kenneth, Eldon and Walter Lewis. Survivors include her husband, Smiley Barnett of the home; daughter, Valerie Barnett of Okmulgee; brothers, Sonny Lewis of Dustin and Bunny Lewis of Wetumka; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends. Visitation will begin Sunday, July 4th at 12:00 p.m and Wake Services will be held Sunday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Shurden-Jackson Funeral Home in Henryetta. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 5, 2010 at the Shurden-Jackson Funeral Home with Pastor Don Tiger officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Barnett Family Cemetery under the direction of the Shurden-Jackson Funeral Home.
