On March 7, 1906, she was united in marriage with Thomas J. Swearengen, who preceded her in death January 6, 1957. Five children were born of this union: Herbert, of the home; James W, who preceded her in death Sept. 9, 1946; Annabeth Adlesperger, Forest City, Ill., Margaret Myers, and Mary Myers, of Newtown. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, one great grand-child, and two sisters; Minerva Havens and Margaret Hayes of Milan, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, five brothers and three sisters.
Early in life she joined the Christian Union Church. She spent the early part of her life in southeast Sullivan county where, prio to her marriage, she was an elementary school teacher. In 1917 she moved with her family to north-west Sullivan county and in this vicinity spent the remainder of her life.
Services were held at the Schoene Funeral Home at 2 pm, Saturday, October 15, 1960, conducted by Elder Clyde Johnson. The music was by Mrs. Eula Shatto and Jennie Reed. The organist was Mrs. Margaret Marr. The escorts were Joe Franklin and John Franklin. Burial was beside her husband in Oak Grove cemetery.
