Willie Marie Mapes, 88, of Inverness Drive, died Monday in a Mount Pleasant hospital. A memorial service will be held later, according to McAlister's Downtown Chapel.
Mrs. Mapes was born in Driggs, Ark., a daughter of John H. Remy and Frances E. McDowell Remy.She was a Roman Catholic and was the widow of Patrick S. Mapes.
Surviving are two daughters, Colleen Littman of Vienna, Va., and Anne Burnham of Charleston; and eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
