PANHANDLE (HC) - Funeral services for Orlando Meaker, 98, an area pioneer of 609 Franklin will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the First Baptist Church. The Rev. Raymond Hall, pastor, will officiate.

Masonic graveside rites will be held at the Panhandle Cemetery. Burial will be under the direction of Poston Funeral Home.

Meaker died at Highland General Hospital in Pampa at 1 p.m. Sunday, following a lengthy illness.

Meaker was born at High Ham, England, and came with his family to the United States in 1878. He moved to Carson County in 1907, and farmed near Panhandle until his retirement.

He was a member of the White Deer Masonic Lodge No. 1188.

Survivors include his wife, Olive of the home, four sons, Julius, Charlie and Orlando, Jr., all of Panhandle, and Purl of Pampa; a sister Mrs. Nellie Pullen of Pampa; 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
