NORMAN EVERETT ADKISON--60: was born 18 Apr 1863 SmelserTwp-Grant Cnty & passed into the life to come in the city [Sunday] 27 May 1923. Mr Adkison spent his entire life in & around Plattevl. He has always been interes-ted in public affairs & figured largely in building the community. Practically every phase of life has felt the power of his influence. He served as clerk of the town of Harrison for several years & for the past 12yrs has been president of the Platteville Telephone Co. MrAdkison was a good public servant. A public or a corporate duty to him demanded even greater care than did his own private interests. MrAtkison was a strong moral character. No one had to ask his attitude on moral & political questions. A congenial disposition, he won the respect & esteem of all who know him. He will be remembered as a loyal, patriotic citizen, a kind neighbor, a true friend & a loving husband & father.
On 26 Jan 1888 he united in marriage with Ada Graves of HarrisonTwp. To them 4 children were born: Mrs G Roettiger, Clifford G, Wilma R & Norman C who passed away in childhood. Besides his wife & children: MrAtkison is survived by 4 grandchildren & leaves a large number of business associates & personal friends who regret his departure.
Service was held Tuesday afternoon [6-05] from the First Methodist church; conducted by Rev Fred W Harris & the IOOF lodge of which Mr Adkison was a member. The body was laid to rest in the family lot in Whig Cemetery.
