"PIONEER CITIZEN PASSES AWAY"
Hicklin Jackson, Aged 81 years, 8 months dies at his home on east High street Monday morning, May 30th of complications of deseases incident to his advanced years.
He had been a resident of Mooresville since March 1873, and with his brother Hamilton engaged in the livery business, for more than 50 years. He was a great lover of the horse and enjoyed training them. He was the youngest of six brothers Allen, Hardin, Will, Hamilton, John and Hicklin. John, aged 84 years of Clayton , being the surviving brother.
He was married to Miss Susan Tumey near Clayton, IN January 1866, having been married 61 years. To this union three children, Cora, Edwin and Mae (Mrs. C. E. Holaday) were born. He is surived by the widow and Mrs. Holaday.
He had been a member of the I.O.O.F. since 1875.
Funeral servicrs were held at the home Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock, conducted by Rev. D. G. Wakeman. Mrs. Ora Jackson read the tribute, Miss Dorval Jackson sang two solos, "The Lord is My Shepherd" and "Peace, I Leave With Thee", accompanied by Mrs. Albert Cooper. The pall bearers were H. C. Scearce, W. A. Cox, Rufus Carlisle, Indianpolis, Charles Swearengin, John Hasse and James Clem.
