Mrs. Alma Wood McMakin
Wellford, Feb. 22 -- Mrs. Alma Wood McMakin, 70, wife of H.P. McMakin and member of a widely known Spartanburg county family, died at her home on route 1, Wellford, Friday at 12 o'clock noon after declining health of the last six months and a serious illness of one week.
She was the daughter of the late T.J. and Mary Gaston Wood and was born and reared at Duncan. Surviving are four daughters, Miss Alice McMakin, Mrs. Mildred Glenn, Mrs. A.P. Hutchinson, Mrs. Walton Hemphill; five sons, Otis, L.E., W.D., E.A., and B.R. McMakin; one sister, Mrs. W.A. Kuse; 12 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Mrs. McMakin had been a member of the Methodist church for 40 years and had been a member of the Lyman Methodist church for the past two years.
Funeral arrangements will be announced later by the Wood mortuary in Greer.
