She was born on August 10, 1922 in Muskegon to Glenn and Phyllis (Dickerson) Shaw and moved to Fremont at the age of nine. She was a graduate of the Fremont High School and married John B. Smith in March of 1943 in Reno, Nevada. John preceded her in death on March 3, 1960. She had worked as an accountant at Gerber Products Company in Fremont for over 30 years until her retirement. She was a member of the First Congregational Church United Church Of Christ in Fremont and had served as treasurer of the Women's Fellowship for many years....
