The first burial, the cemetery patriarch. It is the family of this person that populates this cemetery, once a home-place burial ground. As I understand it, these graves were never marked other than by large stones. A great great grandson, a man of the cloth, enlisted the aid of his son and Clarke Funeral Home and identified the grave positions, and placed metal markers at all the feet. At that time this cemetery was overgrown, almost returned to nature, and the Reverend and son spent years restoring it, marking graves, creating an entry path, and continue to tend the cemetery here in 2010. It's become a beautiful place today, thanks to Rev. Wiley Post Wallace and his son Dr. Mark Coleman Wallace.
