Harry Knauss Dies Monday
Harry A. Knauss, 75, well-known retired Philco-Dexter employee, died at 3 p.m. Monday at the Jefferson County hospital, where he had been a patient the past five weeks and in failing health the past year.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m., at the Behner Funeral home with the Rev. Charles Kerestly in charge. Burial will be at the Evergreen cemetery.
He was born March 31, 1888 at Logan, Ia., the son of David and Rhoda Knott (sic. Nott) Knauss. He was married to Laura Adler (sic. Edler), April 29, 1910 at Fairfield.
He had worked for the Philco-Dexter corporation for over 33 years, when he retired six years ago. He lived in this community from the time he was a year old.
Knauss was a member of the First Christian church. He is survived by his wife and the following children: Mrs. Alvena Barnett of Waterloo, Wilbur Knauss (sic. Wilbur Andrew Knauss )of Guthrie Center, Mrs. Dorothy Wright of La Porte City (sic. Dorothy Angeline Knauss was married first to and divorced from Edward Perry Wright; she later married a Russell Elliott. The F/A/G memorial for her is in West View Cemetery, La Porte City, Ia.: Dorothy Wright Elliott ) and Mrs. Berdina (sic. a/k/a Berndina) Metz of Fairfield. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, one sister and two sons.
