Thelma S. Hamilton, 83, of 715 Falconer St., Jamestown, N.Y., passed away Monday, Jan. 18, 2010, at Lutheran Social Services.
She was born on April 9, 1926, in Mohawk, N.Y., the daughter of the late Glenn and Marie (Miller) Sperl.
Thelma previously lived in Niobe, N.Y., and Ravenswood, W.Va. She graduated from Mohawk High School in 1943. She worked in the trucking business with her late husband and also drove school bus for Panama Central School for many years.
She loved to crochet and made many beautiful afghans over the years, liked doing word search puzzles, and in later years, loved the Soapnet channel.
Thelma is survived by her son, Glenn (wife, Phyllis) Hamilton, Lakewood, N.Y.;
3 grandchildren; Wendi Marie, Jeffrey Phillip and Joshua Mathew; 3 great granddaughters; Ashleigh Elizabeth, Nicole Marie and Kelsey Christine Nagy. two step-daughters: Lynn (husband, Ronald) Blasdell, Rosalie (husband, Charles) Frye; 10 step-grandchildren; 14 step-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Evelyn Weakley.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Hamilton, June 25 1976; stepson, Edward Hamilton; step-daughter, Mary Manders; two brothers: Elmer Sperl and Glenn Sperl; and two sisters: Gertrude Fagant and Betty Knowles.
