John G Roberts was born on December 23, 1854 to William and Barbian Susan Williams Roberts. He grew up on the family farm in Irwin County, a few miles from Ocilla, Georgia. He married Rebecca Mixon on April 29, 1872 and they began their married life. They had 8 children, James Henry, William M, my grandfather, Mary Jane, Richard Clayton, nicknamed Boy, Nancy C, Isaac, Ashley and John G. Rebecca passed away on July 16, 1893 and was buried in the New Valley Grove Church Cemetery in Irwin, Georgia, USA. He next married Fereby Whitley on December 12, 1894. They had one daughter, Rebecca Estell. Rebecca was almost a year old when her daddy passed away. John G Roberts went to heaven on November 2, 1896 and was laid to rest by his first wife Rebecca in the New Valley Grove Church Cemetery in Irwin, Georgia, USA.
