William Mixon Roberts was born on November 9, 1874 in Irwin County, Georgia. He was the second son born to John G. and Rebecca Mixon Roberts. He grew up on a farm in Irwin County with his brothers and sisters and their parents. He married Ella Luke on the 21st day of April, 1901 in Irwin County, Georgia. She was the daughter of David and Mary Sutton Luke. Ella was born January, 1878, in Berrien County, Georgia. They lived their married life on a farm a few miles out from the town of Ocilla, Georgia. Their old home place is still standing but is now in bad shape. Their first child, Little Lulu, was born on April 28, 1902. She only lived 6 months. She went to Heaven on October 16, 1902 and is buried at New Valley Grove Church Cemetery in Irwin County, Georgia. Their first son was my daddy. John David Roberts was born on September 21, 1903, Ollie Mae on May 4, 1906, Steve on April 25, 1909, Mildred on September 28, 1912 and William "Bill" in 1916.
William went to Heaven on November 2,1918. He is buried at New Valley Grove Church Cemetery in Irwin County, Georgia.

Mr. William Roberts, a prominent farmer living a few miles south of Ocilla, and a most respected citizen, died Saturday afternoon from pneumonia following Spanish influenza.
He was buried Sunday at New Valley Grove cemetery in the presence of a large number of friends and relatives.
He leaves a widow and a number of children to mourn his loss.
Mr. Roberts was one of the best men and not only will family and community miss him, but the entire county sustains a loss in the death of this man.
Inscription on tombstone reads, "Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal."
