Shelton P. Berry, 83, of Lubbock died at home September 3, 2008. Shelton was born May 4, 1925 in Ropesville to John and Mary Berry. He grew up and graduated from Ropesville High School in 1942. Later that year he entered the military, serving in the Navy from 1942 to 1946, and again from 1951 to 1953. Shelton received a BBA degree from Tulane University in 1946 and within a few short years, met and married the love of his life, Doris Fielding on May 1, 1948.

Shelton became a CPA in 1957, and in 1962 he opened his own business and practiced public accounting in Lubbock for over 40 years. Shelton helped organize and became the first President for Meals on Wheels, and he also served on the board for twenty years. He was a member of the Kiwanis and Optimists Clubs. He enjoyed tennis and traveling with his family and friends.

Shelton is survived by his wife, Doris; son, Steve and wife Sara of Santa Fe, N.M.; daughter, Beverly and husband Steve Hensley of Lubbock; two grandchildren, Matt and Madison Hensley; one brother, Dan C. Berry of Eunice, N.M.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister and four brothers. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in Shelton's name to Lubbock Meals on Wheels and/or Hospice of Lubbock.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. at Resthaven Memorial Park with a Memorial service following at 11 a.m. at First Assembly of God, 98th and Memphis Ave. Visitation will be Friday, September 5 at Resthaven Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m.
