Mr. Douglas Scott Caldwell passed away on Saturday, October 6, 2001 at the age of 90 years. Doug was predeceased by his parents; sisters: Marie and Winnie; brothers: Clare and Merv; and son-in-law, Jack Riendeau. He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Francis; sister, Calla Grasley; daughters: Verna Riendeau and Yvonne (Ron) Miller; as well as 8 grandchildren and twenty-five great-grandchildren. Doug was born in Regina on April 28, 1911, the fourth child of Ed and Ida Caldwell. His working career involved trucking and farming in the Lawson, Sask. area. The next 20 years were spent making ice at the Moose Jaw Curling Club and the Hillcrest Sports Centre, retiring in 1980. His loves were baseball and curling and in later years cheering his grandchildren and great-grandchildren on at many sporting activities around Sask. A time of visitation for family and friends will be held at W.J.Jones & Son Funeral Home Wednesday evening 7 – 8:30 pm. Cremation will follow. A Memorial Service will be held at Minto United Church on Thursday, October 11, 2001 at 1:30 pm. Reverend John Carley will officiate. Interment of Cremated Remains will take place at Sunset Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Doug's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Box 521, Moose Jaw, would be appreciated. In living memory of Doug, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
