BAXTER -- Funeral services for John C. Ashburn, 90, of Baxter will be held Saturday, August 25, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Dobbs
Cemetery.
Mr. Ashburn died today, August 23, at Cookeville General Hospital following an extended illness.
Son of the late Johnny C. and Callie Herron Ashburn, he was born January 12, 1990 in Putnam County.
Mr. Ashburn was a retired farmer.
His family includes four daughters, Melba Allison of Michigan, Mildred Gammillo and Nell Thomas, both of Baxter, and Rose Goff of Cookeville; three sons, Albert, Roosevelt and Alfred Ashburn, all of Baxter; one brother, Allie Ashburn of Sparta; 17 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
Mr. Ashburn was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Dunn Ashburn.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home after 12 noon tomorrow.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Frank Davis and Danny Lane will officiate at the services.
