Frank A. Portis of Ripley, planter and chairman of the Lauderdale County Election Commission, died Saturday in Kennedy Hospital, Memphis, where he had been a patient since February 18th. He was 65. Services were in First Methodist Church, burial in Maplewood Cemetery. Born in Covington, he moved to Lauderdale County in 1942, and served as Gold Dust postmaster from 1942 to 1952. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Nell HENDERSON PORTIS; a niece, Mrs. Gay M. BARTLETT; a nephew, Portis MORELAND, both of El Paso, TX; a brother, Dan PORTIS of Ripley; a sister, Mrs. Louise MORELAND of El Paso, TX.
