Mrs. Maggie Hill, 81, longtime resident of the Pingree community, died Saturday at the Jamestown Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 pm, in the Pingree Congregational Church with Rev. N.E. McCoy officiating. Burial will be in the Pingree cemetery. The body will be at the Eddy Funeral Home until taken to the church on Wednesday.
Born Sept. 29, 1887, at Ruthven, Iowa. Mrs. Hill was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Rice. She attended school in Iowa before moving to North Dakota in 1903 with her parents, who settled on a homestead 20 miles north of Medina. She was Married to Otis R. Amick on Dec. 22, 1906, in Jamestown and they farmed north of Pettibone. Mr. Amick died July 10, 1914. Her marriage to James Hill took place Dec. 19, 1919, at Steele, and the home has been at Pingree since, except for one year they resided at Pettibone. Mr. Hill died June 3, 1958. Mrs. Hill was a member of the Pingree Congregational Church.
She is survived by six children, Glen Amick, Cosmopolis, Wash; Mrs. John Woolridge (Ethel), Bay Center, Wash; Charles Hill, Valley City; George L Hill, Fargo; Mrs. Ralph Woods (Dora), Eugene, Ore; and Mrs. Myrtle Judd, Jamestown; 24 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; and nine brothers and sisters; Mrs. O.M. Studebaker (Effie), Jamestown; Walter and Dan Rice and Mrs. Hattie Biersdorff, all of Pettibone; Mrs. Pat Bellows (Belle), Bayfield, Wis; Mrs. Elmer Larson (Esther), Billings, Mont; Mrs. Elmer Newman (Vera), Laurel, Mont; Mrs. Carrie Fitch, Dallas, Ore; and Mrs. Mabel Talley, Anacortes, Wash.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister.
