HOPKINSVILLE KENTUCKIAN, April 29, 1913:

Alexander Gilliland, an aged citizen, formerly of this city, died Sunday morning at the home of his son-in-law, George P'Pool, six miles North of Hopkinsville. He was in his 89th year and had been quite feeble for some time, being confined to his bed for a month or more.

Mr. Gilliland was a prominent citizen and most excellent gentleman. He was a Justice of the Peace in the county for two terms and served as Councilman in the Seventh ward of this city one term about fifteen years ago.

The deceased was a Federal veteran and was born in North Christian, not far from where he died. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Cynthia Gilliland, and three children, Mrs. P'Pool, Mrs. G. C. Bowles, of Crofton, and Millard Gilliland, of Arizona. He had been a member of the Baptist church for many years. Some years ago he broke up housekeeping and he had since been residing with his daughters.

Funeral services were held yesterday morning at his late home by Rev. C. M. Thompson and the interment took place in the Armstrong burying ground, near Larkin.
