Michael Slater Jr., 36, of Streator, died at 9:33 a.m. Thursday, June 17, at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center in Las Vegas, Nev.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Streator.
Born Feb. 5, 1974, in Streator, he was the son of Michael and Janet (Telford) Slater. He married Danielle Kiest on June 10, 2010, in Las Vegas. She survives in Streator.
He also is survived by his mother and stepfather, Janet and Gary Harris of Streator; father and stepmother, Michael and Marlis Slater of Chicago; a son, Joseph McDonald of Rushville; a sister, Allison Harris of Streator; a brother, Matthew Harris of Streator; a stepbrother, Aaron Slater of Chicago; and a stepsister, Casey Slater of Chicago.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, William and Mildred Telford; and paternal grandparents, Edward and Carolyn Slater.
Mike was born and raised in Streator, he attended Streator grade schools and Streator Township High School.
He worked as an operator for Agreum U.S. Incorporated Marseilles Distribution Terminal in Marseilles since 2008. He worked at Orica Nitrogen in Seneca prior to that.
Mike was a fun loving person who was very special to his family. He was an avid White Sox fan. He was a good son, brother, cousin and friend. He will be missed by all who knew him.
