Inscription: Infant Daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Ed. Spannaus.

Her parents, Edward Louis Spannaus and Emma Clara (Schulenberg) Spannaus moved to Stuttgart, Kansas from Arlington, Minnesota, in 1905, for reasons of Edward's health; he had gone there earlier, as early as 1903. Their first child, a baby girl, was stillborn in 1906. While in that area, the Spannauses attended the Lutheran Church in Phillipsburg. In 1908, a second daughter Arline was born; Arline lived most of her life in Yolo County, California, where she died in 1992. In 1909 the family moved to Loveland, Colorado, where a son Ruben was born in 1913; he died in Seattle, Washington, in 2006.
